Layout decides where the app’s own controls sit and how much of them shows. It sits in the Application group of Settings, so it applies to this app on this device. Changes save as you make them.

Presets

Preset applies one set of detail choices to every group on this page:
  • When your settings match no preset, the row shows Custom. Change any row below and the preset reads Custom until the values match one again.
  • A preset leaves the status bar’s Placement, Reasoning control, and the sidebar’s panel order and visibility as they are.
  • Reset to defaults puts the whole page back, including those. It doesn’t ask first.

Status Bar

The status bar shows your usage limits and the resource monitor. A preview at the top of the group shows the result as you change it. The rest of this group configures the status bar, so in the mobile app it appears only once Footer status bar is on.

Usage Limits

The Usage limits switch (on by default) shows one segment per provider that reports a usage limit. Below these, Providers on … lists each provider that reports limits on the host the status bar is watching:
  • Its switch hides or shows that provider’s segment.
  • Limits chooses what the segment shows: Tightest limit (automatic), which is whichever limit is closest to running out, plus any specific limits you check. At least one stays checked; use the provider’s switch to hide it.
For what these readings mean and what happens when a limit runs out, see Usage limits and model routing.

Resource Monitor

The Resource monitor switch (on by default) shows CPU, memory and process numbers.

Tabs

Composer

These rows change the controls around the chat composer. Rows set to Compact keep every action they had, in a smaller form. Rows that can be Hidden have another way to do the same thing. Below the input: Toolbar: Two more rows set how reasoning effort is shown: All composer rows default to Visible.

Chat

A preview at the top of the group shows the context reading. Resource chips on sidebar rows shows compact live readings on rows in the Task navigator. Pick any of CPU, Memory and Processes. None are on by default. Panels arranges the panel rail in a Task’s sidebar. It is the same arrangement you can change on the rail itself; see Panels.
  • Drag icons in the strip to reorder them.
  • Drop one icon onto another to make a tabbed panel.
  • Uncheck a panel to keep it out of the rail. The last visible panel can’t be unchecked.
  • Each panel’s menu has Move up, Move down, Group with panel above, and Move out of group, for arranging panels without dragging.
  • Reset panel visibility and Reset order undo your changes.
In windows too narrow to show the sidebar, Panels shows a note instead.
